Niño Early Learning Adventures (ELA) Elsternwick has been rated Exceeding National Quality Standard under the National Quality Framework.

The National Quality Standard (NQS) sets a national benchmark for the quality of children’s education and care services across Australia, with services assessed against the NQS by the state regulatory authority which provides a rating for each of the seven quality areas of the NQS, as well as an overall rating.

“An overall rating of Exceeding NQS is given to services that go above and beyond the requirements of the NQS in at least four of the seven quality areas. To receive this rating on Niño ELA Elsternwick’s first rating and assessment is a true testament to the quality standards of our services and our philosophy,” Company Manager, Melinda Ackerman said.

Niño ELA Elsternwick was highlighted as demonstrating strong and embedded approaches to the educational programs and the interactions with children, aligning with its philosophy and the principles and practices of its approved learning frameworks.

“Our service’s philosophy is embedded in our daily practice, with educators’ reflective practice resulting in responsive programs and practice that caters to each child’s needs and interests and learning environments contributing to the implementation of intentional and spontaneous learning experiences”, said Niño ELA Elsternwick Centre Director, Laura Scidone.

The assessment found that Children demonstrated a sense of security in their environments, confidently exploring spaces and seeking out the company of educators and other children. Purposeful play spaces were provided for all age groups to explore, and educators facilitated their engagement through respectful participation in children’s play.

Niño ELA Elsternwick’s philosophy was developed to align with Niño ELA’s overarching philosophy “to encourage the children in our communities to be brave, creative, resilient and kind”.

Additionally, the exceeding rating was further supported by the professional educators’ and staff’s valued collaboration, respecting the contributions and strengths of children, families and staff.

“Niño ELA Elsternwick has a strong focus on developing respectful, open relationships with families, allowing a deepened understanding of the contexts of families and the values, views and beliefs that they hold”, said Laura.

Niño ELA Elsternwick’s educators and the leadership team were found to be consistently seeking ways in which families could contribute to their program and the expertise of families in the shared decision making of the service.

“We are very proud of our Niño ELA Elsternwick service and their commitment and contribution in providing a positive and quality early learning experience for our children, families and the local community,” Company Manager, Melinda Ackerman said.

Niño ELA Elsternwick, located at 31 Nepean Hwy, Elsternwick, is a spacious purpose-built, multi-story early learning centre housed within part of a Heritage listed building, providing long day care and 3- and 4-year-old kindergarten programs. Children enjoy spacious light filled rooms designed for each age group, challenging playgrounds to inspire curiosity, and passionate and caring educators who nurture the development of every child.
