Supporting Your Child’s School Readiness
Supporting Your Child’s School Readiness at Niño Early Learning Adventures
At Niño Early Learning Adventures (Niño ELA), we know that preparing for school is an exciting journey for children and their families. Our School Readiness Program is designed to support every aspect of your child’s growth — from social and emotional to physical and cognitive development — so they’re fully equipped to thrive in a school environment.
What is School Readiness?
School readiness goes beyond academics. It’s about nurturing the “whole child” in areas like communication, social skills, and independence. Whether it’s learning to ask for help, navigate social interactions, or improve motor skills, our goal is to foster the curiosity, confidence, and resilience children need for school and beyond. We focus on important developmental skills such as:
- Communication: Helping children express their needs, listen actively, respect and be open minded to others’ ideas and thoughts, and share and develop literacy abilities.
- Social Skills: Encouraging cooperation, turn-taking, and friendship building.
- Mathematics & Numeracy: Introducing concepts like quantity and spatial awareness through engaging, hands-on activities.
- Emotional Skills: Supporting children to understand and manage self-regulating of emotions, adapt to change, and try new things.
- Thinking Skills: Building problem solving, concentration, and decision making skills.
- Physical Skills: Developing coordination, fine motor skills, and confidence in active play.
How We Prepare Children for Prep
Niño ELA families find comfort in our personalised approach to school readiness. To ease transitions, we encourage regular communication and offer resources, including parent-teacher interviews and readiness tips, such as:
- Familiarising children with their new school through visits or virtual tours.
- Practicing daily routines, like packing a bag or wearing a hat.
- Encouraging playdates with future classmates.
- Connecting with your child’s primary school, where you may have the opportunity to meet the principal and teachers throughout the year. Many primary schools also offer an exceptional transition program to help new students adjust and prepare for their first year.
Our Early Childhood Teachers also use these interactions to gather insights on each child’s interests, which helps shape their learning journey and school transition plan.
A Community of Support
As a Niño ELA family, you’ll be part of a community that cares about your child’s future. We facilitate connections with other families whose children may be attending the same primary school, creating a network of support.
We’d love to welcome you to the Niño ELA family! If you’re interested in learning more about our School Readiness Program or would like to discuss enrolment, reach out to us today.
